I was reading a post on the main page, one of those "WYD...?" ones. The question was, would you date someone with different life goals?
Well, I tried that. It didn't work out. My ex's goal in life is to move back to west Africa and rule his country or something. While I think that's awesome, I don't want to go with him. My goal in life is to be an amazing teacher, the kind of teacher they make movies about that turns schools around and coaches other teachers and gives (useful!!) seminars and writes bestselling books (when I'm not teaching my sweet little monkeys, of course). And I want to do that right here in the U.S.. If I were to marry him, I'd have to move to west Africa with him and give up my career and my country and everything and just be his wife. I don't know how progressive his country is, but since they still practice genital mutilation there, I'm thinking that my life wouldn't be anything like it is now.
As sweet as he is, it just wouldn't work.
(Note: I am aware (as I hope you are also) that west Africa is not a country; I omitted the specific country name on purpose cuz y'all don't need to know all my bidness.
